OPPORTUNITY LINKS!

Learn where you can make a difference and discover your niche in community service! The second Wednesday each month RSVP and the Nature Coast Volunteer Center host a forum for people to link up with volunteer opportunities.  This is a chance to meet directly with NCVC/RSVP staff and volunteer managers throughout the county and learn about their programs.  Light refreshments  are served.  Next meeting date is 12/10/08 3-4:30 PM at the Citrus County Resource Center Café 2804 W. Marc Knighton Court in Lecanto, join us and find out where your volunteer service can best make a difference. Current opportunities include:

KEY TRAINING CENTER - We all want to be special to someone. Buddies ‘N Pals are volunteers who have a special friend among the residents and program participants of the Key Training Center. These volunteers fill a void in the life of a developmentally disabled adult, an empty space left by elderly, deceased or geographically distant family members. Could you fill this position?

TEEN COURT - Is a legally binding alternative system of justice that offers young offenders an opportunity to make restitution for their offenses through community service, education classes, and jury service.  Volunteer Jury Supervisor is needed to oversee jury at Teen Court on Tuesday evenings 5 - 7:30 pm. Volunteer Community Service Supervisor to oversee teens completing volunteer service projects evenings and/or weekends

CITRUS COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM - Share your love of reading with children.  See young faces light up with pleasure when you read them a story.  Experience the joy of working with young children.  We need volunteers who enjoy working with children and would like to contribute to the quality of a child's development.  Our goal is to encourage children in Citrus County to become life-long readers.  Volunteers needed who enjoy working with children and would like to contribute to the quality of a child's development.  Tales on Wheels program coordinates library volunteers to travel to the preschools and child care centers where children spend time and bring a library-type story time to them in that location.

THE PATH - Offers a uniform way to volunteer and help rescue the hurting who are in our shelter.  The Path provides shelter and food for displaced men, women and children and teaches biblical principles to bring quality and self sufficiency. A six-month commitment on all positions for training purposes. Help is needed in these areas: shelter, farm, thrift store and board members.

CITRUS ABUSE SHELTER - CASA always welcomes the valuable contribution of volunteers. Hours are flexible in terms of time and commitment; requesting part-time, seasonal, and full-time help. Volunteers are an integral part of CASA, helping to meet the goal of preventing domestic  violence, and assisting victims of various crimes. Volunteers needed: office help, donation coordinator and helpers, someone with a truck to help pick up larger donated items, fund raising coordinator and helpers. Your smile and cheerful attitude when greeting visitors will be a positive contribution to help victims begin their journey to becoming survivors.

CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE – Child ID Program provides training to volunteers who enjoy working with children of all ages.  Help with fingerprinting, photo’s DNA samples, weight and height, inputting information into the computer and explaining forms to parents.  Mostly on Saturdays and occasionally a Sunday or weekday. Need to be able to stand for several hours.  Other volunteer services needed: community patrol, communications member, receptionist, and as-needed volunteer.

The warm spirit of Citrus County can be found in the heart of its volunteers. If you can help with any of the above volunteer positions please call The Nature Coast Volunteer Center at (352) 527-5950 or email ncvc@bocc.citrus.fl.us for more information.

For persons with disabilities requiring reasonable accommodations please call ahead.  This event is sponsored by RSVP of Citrus County, a program of the Nature Coast Volunteer Center.
