Primary Vote Recap
Remembering the Past
Final official results of
verification of provisional votes and a re-count. The unofficial vote count in the District 4
race is 1,728 for former County Comm. Lilly Rooks and 1,724 for incumbent Commissioner
Ryan Bell. The two were only separated by 5 votes prompting a recount on Friday. In the
County Commission District 2 race the total after counting the provisional votes had 1,740
votes for Rock Meeks to 1,705 for incumbent Commissioner Chad Johnson. Meeks was
former Otter Creek mayor at age 18. State law requires a recount if the margin of victory is
.5% or less. A recount was set for Friday and because of the Monday holiday final, official
results were not available before Newscaster press time. Assuming the current results hold
up, Rooks will challenge Democrat Jamie Griffin, and Meeks will run against independent
Robert Studstill in the Nov. 4th general election. Incumbent 8th Judicial Circuit Judge Wil-
liam Davis won in a non partisan race against William Falik.
In the School Board District 1 race Cameron Asbell (NP) was unopposed. In the
District 3 School Board race Robert E Philpot (NP) was unopposed. School Board District
5 Rick Turner (NP) was unopposed.
Levy County Soil and Water District Group 1 no candidates qualified. Soil and
Water District Group 3 Wilbur Dean (NP) was unopposed. Soil and Water District Group 5
Jake Sach was unopposed.
The Canvassing Board for the election consisted of Supervisor of Elections Tammy
Jones, County Judge James T "Tim" Browning, and Levy County Commissioner Danny Ste-
vens.  According to the Levy County Supervisor of Elections website recent update there
are 25, 719 registered voters in Levy County with 3548 ballots cast August 26 election with
