Citrus County Landfill Open with Extended Hours
The Citrus County landfill has commenced seven days a week operation from 8:00
am to 6:00 pm every day for the general public and from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm for certified
commercial haulers to accommodate storm debris collection operation for the City of Crys-
tal River and Citrus County from Hurricane Hermine.
Floral City Fun Day planned for October 1
The Floral City Merchants Association has announced a Fun Day for all on Satur-
day, October 1, the day prior to the famous Withlacoochee Trail Ride.
Because the Ride coincides with World Animal Day, there will be a blessing for
both animals and bicyclists at the Florida Artists Gallery, located at 8219 Orange Avenue,
just west of the town center. Reverend Mary Gestrich of the Floral City United Methodist
Church will conduct a blessing for animals at 10:15 a.m. and for bicyclists at 11:15. Pets
should be caged or on a leash, and minor bicyclists should be accompanied by an adult.
For those interested in making a family-less animal happy on World Animal Day,
Precious Paws Rescue, located at 7358 Florida Avenue, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
with pet adoptions, a yard sale, and open house, and kids' activities.
