Garbage In
Garbage Out
Years ago
there was a garbage service in
old Homosassa who’s slogan
was “Satisfaction guaran-
teed or double your garbage back.” That
made me think of the fiasco the Town
of Inglis has been going through as the
present commission made the decision to
enforce instead of amend the mandatory
garbage rule made 29 years ago in 1980,
according to town hall. Waste Pro of
Florida Inc has the contract on garbage
contracted service in the Town of Inglis
until March 30, 2010. The present rate is
$22.77 for residential pickup with those
over 65 paying $21.19 with a senior citi-
zen discount to the 217 present custom-
ers according to Waste Pro. The Town of
Inglis gets 10% of this back in franchise
fees.
A meeting with Waste Pro pro-
duced a contract to provide the manda-
tory service to 732 residences according
to Mayor Lake. The contract was voted
and approved on August 13 by 4 votes
with Commissioner Bob Webb absent.
