Ocala crash injures Dunnellon woman
A traffic crash in Marion County, Aug. 19, resulted in serious injuries to a Dun-
nellon woman. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on State Rd.
40 (SW 80th Ave.) in Marion County at 7:30 am, as a 2015 Dodge Ram truck, driven by
44 year-old Heather Shaw of Ocala, was traveling south on a private driveway. At the same
time, 43 year-old Candy Carmona of Dunnellon, was driving a 2006 Kia Optima, traveling
west on State Rd. 40.
Shaw (in the Dodge Ram truck) attempted to make a left turn onto State Road 40,
directly in front of the Kia Optima driven by Carmona, which caused the front of the Kia
to collide with the front left side of the Dodge Ram truck. Carmona, who was wearing a
seatbelt, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala with serious injuries.
Shaw, who was not wearing a seatbelt, received minor injuries and was transported to Mun-
roe Regional Medical Center in Ocala for treatment. Neither driver carried a passenger. The
report stated that Shaw was cited for failing to yield right-of-way.
