The Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) issued a statement Monday
urging boaters to secure their crafts in advance of the storm. As of Monday night the hur-
ricane was near the Puerto Rico coast and the passed just north of the Dominican Republic.
Forecasters showed the storm headed for the Carolinas, narrowly missing the Florida coast.

A pedestrian was killed in Lecanto at 9:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20, at State Road
44, east of County Road 491. According to the Florida Highway Patrol,

alcohol. Blood testing for alcohol was performed on Mr. Good. As the investigation pro-

when more water sampling will be done. The water is tested each week on Wednesday
morning, and if the samples are too high, the Health Department issues an advisory against
swimming and no swimming signs will be posted.
