Single-vehicle crash, Crystal River,
Remembering the Past

An early morning crash  Crystal River, August 17, proved deadly to
involved in the single vehicle crash. The driver s identity has not yet been released. Accord-
ing to the Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle was a 1997 Toyota SUV that was traveling
south on N. Citrus Ave., south of W. Far Hills Rd. when for unknown reason/s, the driver
drove onto the east shoulder, then over-corrected, traveled back across the roadway and
overturned.
The Toyota then caught fire and became fully engulfed. in flames. The driver sus-
tained fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash. Troopers continue to work toward
identifying the deceased driver, which has been complicated due to extensive fire damage.
Dunnellon man dies in Sumter County crash
A 57 year-old Dunnellon man, Thomas Edward Moreland, was killed in a Sumter
County single-vehicle crash on Wed., Aug. 12 at 2:55 pm. According to the Florida Highway
Patrol, the crash occurred at County Rd. 219 and County Rd. 44A. Mr. Moreland was driv-
ing a 2015 Ford F550 truck, traveling west on County Rd. 44A, when (for unknown reasons)
the vehicle traveled off of the roadway and onto private property located at County Rd. 44A
and County Rd. 219. The truck then collided with a fence and continued until it struck a
storage shed, then it came to rest. Mr. Moreland, who was wearing a seatbelt, expired at the
scene of the crash. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

King said, on the morning of the robbery, she dropped her dog off at a grooming

The report stated that King took about $1344 from the teller, which contained about
$120 in mutilated bills. About 2:15 pm, King said, she picked her dog up from the groomer,

King was charged with robbery and held on $15,000 bond. According to the CCSO
Media Division, King has no prior arrests in Citrus County.
