Donations for Greta spill over
Pet Patrol
Greta the pit bull terrier has proven that a little help from
friends can go a long way. According to Citrus County Animal Ser-
vices Veterinarian Dr. Julie Rosenberger, Greta is recovering fine
from hip surgery after citizens donated money to the Dorothy Angel
Fund for the surgery.
Greta was brought to the animal shelter with fractured
right and left legs a few months ago. Those continue to heal, Rosen-
berger said, and added that the effort to help Greta has also helped
two other dogs. “Through the generous donations to the Dorothy
Angel Fund at Midway we have also had surgery to repair a broken left ankle on Axle, a
3-month old chow mix puppy. Axle has been adopted by a family that will continue his
physical therapy and follow-up visits to Dr. K.C. Nayfield.”
The donations stretched even further, she said. “Additionally, we have a young fe-
male mix breed that came in hit-by-car with head trauma and neurologic deficits. Her name
is Miracle and in the 2 weeks since her arrival, she has gone from near paralysis to nearly
recovered, with steroids, a little TLC, and physical therapy. Thanks to the donations to the
Angel Fund at Dunnellon Animal Hospital, an x-ray last week showed a fracture of her C2
