Crews were able to use a nearby hydrant for
water supply. A quick search was performed
on the two businesses on fire, and no one was
found. The fire was under control within 45
minutes. A third business was also affected by
the fire - Tile Importers, Inc. (1439 SE U.S.
Hwy. 19).
No mention was made on the Fire
Incident Worksheet, as to fire or smoke dam-
age to several other businesses in the shopping
plaza, which include: Clothesline Thrift Store
(1421 SE U.S. Hwy. 19), Easy Shower Bench-
es (1439 SE U.S. Hwy. 19) and Gulf Breeze
Auto Sales LLC (1321 SE U.S. Hwy. 19).
Engines from Connell Heights, Pine
Ridge, Citrus Springs and Sugarmill Woods assisted the two other fire rescue units. The
State Fire Marshall was contacted to investigate the fire, but no information is available, at
this time, as to the cause of the fire. No one was injured. The estimated monetary loss due to
extensive damages is $450,000.
The fire necessitated closing down the immediate area of U.S. Hwy. 19 and divert-
ing the traffic onto surrounding roads.

In 1904 Camp Phosphate Company was granted a permit from the Secretary of War to construct
a dam including a lock that never functioned properly on the Withlacoochee River just east of
Inglis. This dam formed what today is the almost 4000 acre manmade Lake Rousseau. In 1909
