Hernando man arrested  by the Citrus County  stop
after traffic
Remembering the past
A 23 year-old Hernando man was arrested
Sheriff’s Office, Aug. 4, after a routine traffic stop due to having unlawful
window tint of the side windows of the vehicle he was driving, a 2001 red
Ford Crown Victoria. The arrest report stated that Tony Lee Boggs, 671 W.
Olympia St. was stopped just after 7:30 p.m., and he had all the documents
deputies requested by deputies, with the exception of his driver’s license.
Meanwhile, a canine officer sniffed the outside of Bogg’s vehicle
Boggs
and alerted to the presence of narcotics at the passenger side door. Deputies
asked Boggs to step outside, and they patted him down and searched his vehicle
A canine deputy found a plastic baggie containing 6.9 grams of crack cocaine
under the carpet on the floorboard. Boggs was placed under arrest for possession of a con-
trolled substance.
Deputies used a tint meter to analyze the window tinting, which was measured un-
lawful at 26% (the legal tint limit is 28%, according to the arrest report). The legal owner of
the vehicle was contacted by phone, and she came to the location of the traffic stop to pick
up her vehicle.
Boggs was transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility, where his bond
was set at $5,000. He was also issued a traffic citation for having no driver’s license on
demand.
