The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners’ Planning Division

local Comprehensive Plans. The Comprehensive Plan directs land use patterns and growth
management policy for the community. The Planning Division is asking for public input in
the survey on local growth management and the County’s Comprehensive Plan.
The Evaluation and Appraisal Report Process requires the County to review its
Comprehensive Plan’s goals and objectives to see whether it is meeting them and whether
and how it may need to change them to keep up with the issues as conditions change over
time. The revised plan is sent to the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA),
which oversees growth management and local comprehensive plans.,It reviews the revised
plan and when it agrees with the conclusions, it sends the plan back to the county for adop-
tion.The adoption process is similar to the comprehensive plan amendment process. Any
changes after that must me made within 18 months of the adoption.
