Probably the Izaak Walton Lodge boasted the first swimming pool in Yankeetown back in it's
early days according to an undated brochure picture captioned by Eugene Knotts former Mayor
Shrimp Landing
of Yankeetown. The shoreline of the beautiful clear Withlacoochee River shoreline was carved
out and a native field stone wall was built around the white sand bottom shore. It was a great
swimming pool and cooling off spot with little maintenance. These unidentified girls lined

up for a picture on the rock wall while enjoying the cooling waters. History from Sally Price.
