Inglis Police enforcing traffic laws
with ZERO-TOLERANCE
Inglis Police have begun a special summer traffic detail aimed at getting drivers to
slow down. It's called Summer HEAT, and it will continue until August.
"Summer H.E.A.T. means 'Heavy Enforcement of All Traffic,'" said Sgt. Brandon
Roberts. Speed is the primary cause of traffic crashes. "It is not uncommon for people to
speed through Inglis at speeds in excess of seventy-five miles per hour," said Inglis Police
Chief Tim Bible. "That's why we feel this public initiative is so important."
Not only will the Inglis Police Department be enforcing speed limits, they will be
enforcing all traffic laws, including the wearing of seatbelts and bumper jumping, or tailgat-
ing - following another vehicle too closely without keeping a safe distance between the two
vehicles. What is a safe distance? The Two-Second Rule is a way to see if you are far enough
