Weather turned out great Saturday for the Inglis Yankeetown Lions Club flea market sale in
front of Food Ranch. Donated items sold to earn funds for the Lions Club projects. A steady
flow of buyers rooted thru the many items available for purchase. Some private citizens set up
tables with the Lions to make a big variety of sale items. As always there was some grilled food
and drinks to meet the need of those who came to shop. Photo by Sally Price

Public Welcome
Within the first six hours, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
(FWC) sold 4,555 alligator hunt permits, after they went on sale, despite a computer program-
ming glitch. The licensing system, operated by a third party vendor, Outdoor Central in
Jefferson City, Mo., experienced problems handling the high volume of applications and
Custom Woodworking
failed to provide confirmation to customers when they tried to purchase a license and permit.
This resulted in some people being unable to successfully purchase a license and permit and
"Your Plans or Ours"
resulted in confusion and frustration for many applicants.
"This is not the first time we have had issues with this vendor," said Rodney
Antique Furniture Refinishing
Barreto, FWC Commission chairman. "This is totally unacceptable, and I am asking agency
staff to look into all options for recourse and remedy, including possible termination of the

vendor's contract and seeking a new vendor. "In addition, I am asking staff to identify

options for making this right for people who encountered problems with the system and were

unable to purchase a permit." Less than 200 permits remained and are still available for

issuance. Approximately 4,800 alligator hunt permits went on sale on a first-come, first-
