We want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the 39th Gulf Ham-
mock Wild Hog Canoe Race which was held this last week. There were 132 kayaks and

canoes registered, the highest number of participants since the race started. A special thank
you also to all of our sponsors who contributed so generously.

Although most folks came out to cheer the racers, they also enjoyed the food and


music. But the best part of the event is - all of the proceeds raised will be presented to the
Levy Association for Retarded Citizens in Otter Creek.

We are blessed to live where people care for one another and are so giving.


Levy County CourtHousereceived a call


On Tuesday, April 26, the Levy County Sheriff's Office 911 Center
  

at 8:16 am, a vague threat that a bomb that could explode was at the County 
  Levy    Court

House. Deputies immediately evacuated the court house administrative and judicial services

areas and conducted an exterior sweep of the complex.

Upon request of Sheriff McCallum, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office Bomb

Squad and K9 units, along with the University of Florida Police Department, searched the

Levy County Court House, both inside and out, and no explosive devices were found.
Court house employees and citizens withscheduled   were 

re-entry into the complex, and all services were soon back   
 in operation.
