Last  week,  af-
ter the storms that rolled
through, I was out and
about doing my photojour-
nalist thing looking for the sensational
storm story to put right here. I had it all
in my mind about how I would be picking
my way through debris while shattered
residents were softly sobbing all around
me; first responders battling the elements
while trying to rescue hapless victims.
The sort of stuff I see while working for
FEMA.
I am very happy to report I saw
nothing like that at all. I saw a lot of old
hollow trees that Mother Nature helped
ease into their next incarnation. I saw
resilient bands of friends and families
gathering in groups to talk about their ex-
periences and offer each other moral sup-
port. Mostly I just heard the echoes of a
hundred 32cc chainsaw motors whirring
