Roast ‘n Toast Event Raises
$2,000 for Scholarships
The Florida Public Relations Association – Nature Coast Chapter put Chamber of
Commerce President and CEO Josh Wooten in the spotlight on March 19 at the associa-
tion’s third annual Roast ‘n Toast scholarship fundraiser.
A team of local “celebrities” including Gerry Mulligan, Joe Meek, Susan Gill,
Gary Maidoff, Jim Fowler and Dixie Hollins created an evening of laughs for 166 guests.
Proceeds from the event will provide two $1,000 scholarships to students dedicated to en-
hancing the public relations profession.
A past VFW Ladies Axillary District competition was held to select the best essay
describing why a selected school, church or local organization should win a new American
and POW flag. The essay by Kathy Dutkiewicz, now President of the Gilley-Long-Osteen
LAVFW Post 8698 (Inglis), was chosen best of the 13 entries and won the 2 new flags.
In her essay Kathy wrote the history of the Cedars of Lebanon Cemetery, all that is
left of the town of Lebanon which began in the 1870’s as a farming community and located
