Remembering the past
on counterfeitingcharges by the Inglis Police Depart-
charges
A Tampa couple was arrested on counterfeiting
ment, around 11:00 p.m., March 17, during a routine traffic stop at C.R. 40 East and Sandi
St. The two were Gary Gene Garrett, 50, and Connie Lynn
Pugh, 43, both of the same Tampa address.
After the traffic stop was completed, Garrett gave
the Ofc. Bran Hilberer consent to search the vehicle. Dur-
ing the search, Ofc. Hilberer found one counterfeit hun-
dred-dollar bill and three counterfeit five-dollar bills in a
wallet inside Pugh s purse, and five hundred-dollar bills in
the passenger side of the center console. In the trunk, Hil-
berer found a scanner/printer. Both Garrett and Pugh told
Garrett
Pugh
Ofc. Hilberer that they’d obtained the counterfeit bills from
an acquaintance who lives in the Tampa area. Both admitted that they’d used the scanner/
printer to scan and print counterfeit money. Each was arrested and transported to the Levy
County Jail. Each was arrested of a charge of possession of counterfeit bills and possession
of counterfeiting equipment , with a bond set at $100,000, according to the Levy County
Sheriff s Office.
