Beach Rebuilding project done ahead

Citrus County Parks and Recreation will open Fort Island Gulf Beach in Crystal
River this past Saturday morning, March 24, after completing a beach renourishment proj-
ect.
Maintenance crews have finished ahead of schedule and under budget. The origi-
nal completion date was Friday, March 30, 2012.
A total of 1,625 tons of sand was delivered to the beach for a material cost of
$47,775.00. Labor and equipment cost have been reduced by finishing ahead of schedule.
Beach renourishment is a common shore protection measure that preserves beach
