Inverness man killed when vehicle collides with semi truck
A two-vehicle crash between a semi truck and an SUV in Marion County, March
20, resulted in the death of an Inverness man. The crash took place at 8:50 am on State Rd.
200 at SW 115 Ave., west of County Rd. 484, about 400 yards from the entrance to the
Spruce Creek Preserve community between Dunnellon and Ocala.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol which investigated the crash and the Cit-
rus County Sheriff's Office, which assisted with traffic control, 58 year-old Ricky A. Suggs,
of Inverness, was driving a 2003 Lexus GX470 SUV, traveling east on SR 200. Donny
Wayne Bryant, age 52, of Southport, Florida was driving a 2014 Kenworth truck loaded with
roofing shingles, traveling west on SR 200.
The report stated that Mr. Sugg steered into the westbound lane, overcorrected
when he steered the SUV back into the eastbound lane, lost control of the vehicle and trav-
eled back into the westbound lane as the semi truck was approaching. Mr. Bryant applied
the brakes to the semi in an attempt to avoid a collision with the Lexus, but the left front of
the Lexus collided with the left front of the semi. Mr. Suggs was pronounced deceased at the
scene; he was not wearing a seatbelt. Mr. Bryant was not injured in the crash.

dragline is being boosted onto a barge to start the work on the new double lane to be com-
pleted in the fall. The middle of the river is the divide line between Citrus and Levy County.
