Floral City man suspected
Remembering the Past
driver in fatal hit-and-run

Crash and homicide investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol have listed the
suspect in a hit and run crash - which resulted in the death of a pedestrian, 37 year-old David
P. Wilson, III of Brooksville, FL - as Benton C. Yost, 66, of Floral City.
According to the press release by the FHP, the crash occured on Jan. 30 at 9:07 pm,
when the suspected vehicle, a 1997 Ford F-250 pickup truck, believed to have been driven
by Mr. Yost, was traveling north on County Rd. 481 (Snow Memorial Hwy.) at Lake Lindsey
Rd. Mr. Wilson was walking on County Rd. 481, also traveling north, when the front right of
the truck struck Mr. Wilson. The driver fled the scene of the crash, traveling north on County
Rd. 481. Mr. Wilson sustained fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash.
At 10:45 pm, the Ford F-250 pickup truck and its occupants, Mr. Yost, along with
his passengers, Sandra L. George, 51, of Zephryhills, FL, and Howard C. Knudsen, 57, of
Brooksville, were located at the McDonald's restaurant in Brooksville, located at 845 S.
Broad St. Evidence was collected at that location, and charges are pending, according to the
FHP. Alcohol test results are also pending on the suspected driver.
