Economic Stimulus Tax Rebate
There has been much talk about the Tax Rebate check the U. S. Government will soon
be sending to taxpayers. Here, we will clear the speculation and give you the facts. Checks will
be sent out, starting at the beginning of May.
The BASIC ELIGIBILITY to receive these checks are as follows:
(a) The IRS will use your 2007 Return to calculate the amount of your payment. The payment
will equal the amount of tax liability - which is Line 63 on your 1040 form, or Line 37 on your
1040A form.
(b) The maximum payment will be $600, and the minimum payment will me $300, per taxpayer.
(c) For each child dependent, you will receive $300.
(d) People with LITTLE TO NO tax liability will also qualify for a $300 rebate, if they received
over $3000 in earned income (wages, self-employment, social security or pensions).
(e) Low income workers who earned over $3000 AND people with Social Security Income only,
MUST FILE a return to be eligible for the $300 rebate.
NON-ELIGIBLE persons include:
(a) Non-Resident aliens, Residents of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
(b) Individuals who can be claimed on another return.
Dividends, Interest and Capital Gains is not included when determining Earned Income for
the Rebate.
