In June of 2014 I presented an article in this publication suggesting that we

consider unincorporating the town of Inglis. I suggested that little good has come to the

Another thing you may not have noticed is that the town's population has declined 12%
since 2000 and the median income of our residents has also declined.
For the life of me I don't know why 1300 people living together require the
expense and headaches of a government of their own. We seem to be witnessing a po-
litical game without a practical purpose. Is a poor town government better than no town
government? The Town has repeatedly turned down legitimate offers from businesses
to establish projects within the town. Any potential for growth of the town requires new
enterprises to succeed before any progress can be made that could reverse the declining
trends of the last 14 years. If we are not growing, we are declining, there is no such

of unincorporating to reduce costs and regulation. If unincorporated, most of us would
not notice much in changes except that neighbors might be getting along better and
taxes would likely be lower. Inglis would still be Inglis, but not incorporated. Essential
services would be supplied by the county as has been the case with law enforcement. I
