New emergency notification
system: Alert Citrus.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Of-
fice is working with Everbridge, a leader
in unified critical communications, to
replace its `CodeRED alerts with `Alert
Citrus alerts. These alerts will notify
residents and businesses of emergencies
and critical events within or affecting the
county, just as the current CodeRED does.
Citrus Alerts will notify residents
about events, including severe weath-
er, fires, floods and other emergencies,
along with sexual predator notifications
or crime-related information. Unlike Co-
deRED, messages will be sent to residents
by way of their preferred contact paths,
such as by cell phone, SMS, home phone,
email, fax, paging, etc., so that residents
have their most convenient way of receiv-
ing potentially lifesaving information.
The CCSO will begin using
`Alert Citrus, rather than the CodRED
they are currently using, on Dec. 14. Cit-
rus Alert is a free service, and your con-
tact information is not shared.
