The Coast Guard is continuing a search
for two people in the Gulf of Mexico, after
learning that a private aircraft had possibly
crashed into the Gulf, about 20-miles south-
west of Yankeetown, around 6:45 p.m, Nov.
30.
Darien Peckham, 35, and Zachary Schlitt,
28, of West Palm Beach, Florida, were flying
from Tallahassee to Vandenberg Airport in
Tampa, when air-traffic controllers in Jackson-
ville reported to the Coast Guard that their
single-engine, fixed-wing Beechcraft aircraft
had dropped off radar and possibly crashed
into the Gulf.
Several agencies were involved in the
search, including rescue boat crews from the
Yankeetown Coast Guard Station and the Sand
Key Coast Guard Station in Clearwater; a 47-
