Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve Duck Race

Fundraiser Results November 20, on the

The 8th Annual Rubber Duck Race took place on Sunday,

Withlacoochee River. The enthusiastic 399 ducks were delighted to be on the river once

again. They thank all their sponsors for supporting the Friends of the Withlacoochee Gulf
Preserve. The race is a principle fundraiser for the Friends. All proceeds of the race go

towards supporting the maintenance and improvement of the 413 acre Withlacoochee Gulf

Preserve located in Yankeetown. Duck #204 charged ahead of the group to take first place.
The proud sponsors were the Runnels family of Gulf Hammock. They won $200.

The lazy duck this year was Duck #80 sponsored by Heidi & Mark Osborne of Yankeetown.
They received $50. Both parties donated their winnings back to the Friends. We sincerely
thank them for their generosity.

approaching S. Suncoast Blvd., and failed to stop at the intersection's stop sign, driving into

the path of a 2011 Ford F350 pickup truck (owned by A-Z Tree Service, LLC of Hudson,

FL). The truck was driven by 45 year-old Manuel Michael Oliveira, of New Port Richey,
and traveling north on US 19. The front of the Ford truck struck the left side of the Lincoln,
which overturned once, due to the impact, and came to rest on its wheels in the median,
facing south. The truck also came to rest in the median, facing north.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelt and neither carried a passenger. Ms.
Griffiths side airbag and Mr.Oliveira s front airbag deployed. The release mentioned no

injuries to Mr.Olieveira. Ms. Griffiths was cited for failing to stop at the stop sign. The scene

of the crash was cleared at 5:26 pm.

