“Follow That Dream”
through Yankeetown!
By Tom Russell
Newscaster Editor
Years ago the Yankeetown coun-
cil, for whatever reason, decided not to
continue the name Inglis had adopted for
County Rd 40 through the two towns. The
current Yankeetown council is to be com-
mended for picking up at the town limit
with Inglis and naming it “Follow that
Dream” Parkway
The dream now continues through
Yankeetown! A highlight of the 50th an-
niversary celebration of the 1961 filming
of the Elvis Presley movie “Follow That
Dream” at numerous locations in Levy
and Citrus counties - and major portions at
Bird Creek Park in Yankeetown - was the
dedication of “Follow That Dream Park-
way” in Yankeetown. The ceremony was
held at the Yankeetown /Inglis boundry on
S.R. 40, where a new sign commemorating
the movie has been placed under the Town
of Yankeetown sign.
The Town of Inglis had previous-
ly adopted the “Follow That Dream Park-
