Report: Inglis Police Pay Scale
Pet Patrol
5th From Bottom in Florida
From the October Inglis Commission Meeting
By Newscaster Contributor Doug Johnston
The Inglis commission heard a report by Inglis resident Bill Monteverde concern-
ing pay scale for Inglis Police Department officers and employee Lorraine Barber. Monte-
verde said his research shows Levy County’s pay scale is 5th from the bottom in Florida
and Inglis is considerably less than other Levy County municipalities. He suggested making
Mrs. Barber s pay on the same grade as other City office personnel.
*Heard a lengthy presentation by Monteverde about water payment and collection
procedure and suggested the City purchase software and a bar scanner and set up a more
modern system of accepting payments and depositing them. Monteverde brought a copy of
a receipt for one of his bills that he paid by check. He said it typically takes five, and up to
eight days for the town to actually debit his account. The commission chose not to act on
Monteverde’s suggestion at this time.
*Commissioners also heard Monteverde make a suggestion to upgrade and change
the town’s website. He suggested one person be in charge of the website and the picture on
the website depicting the Inglis town hall sign be changed. He said he has had difficulty
finding certain items on the page and understanding who is responsible for the site s infor-
