Unemployment rate drops
to 7.1 percent, numbers

CareerSource Citrus Levy Mar-
ion's regional jobless rate dropped to 7.1
percent in September, down 0.8 percent-

year. There were 14,471 unemployed,
1,516 fewer than in August, out of a labor
force of 203,147.
According to the Florida De-
partment of Economic Opportunity, Levy
County posted the lowest rate in the re-
gion at 6.7 percent, followed by Mar-
ion County with 7.1 percent and Citrus
County at 7.2 percent. The not-seasonal-
ly adjusted rate for Florida is 6.1 percent
while the national rate dropped to 5.7
percent. Seasonally adjusted, Florida's
rate is 6.1 percent and the national rate is
5.9 percent.
