The Newscaster/Nature Coast News
REPLY TO MRS. KLINE'S LETTER OF 1-2-2013
Mrs. Kline stated “In 2009, the then mayor, Bill Lake signed a contract
with Waste Pro before the Town Commission approved it.” This is totally
incorrect. The Town Commission authorized my negotiating the contract
and signing it. This is a matter of public record.
Were Mrs. Kline’s statement true I would have been responsible for violat-
ing my duties as Mayor as the Mayor does not have the legal right to sign
anything without Commission approval. As well as maligning my charac-
ter. After the Commission reneged on their commitment due to protest
by several residents I refused to renegotiate with Waste Pro resulting in
the Commission negotiating a settlement by signing an exclusive contract
with Waste Pro.
Hopefully Mrs. Kline will see the error of her ways and in all good con-
science forward a retraction of her false comments to the Newscaster.
